Why Everybody Should Have a Regular Hearing Assessment
The latest studies suggest that 1 in 8 of us are experiencing some form of hearing loss in the US. When you compare that number to the small percentage of people that actually get their hearing tested, you can see why I’m so passionate about raising awareness for healthy hearing.
One of the biggest challengesI’ve faced throughout my 25-year career is the length of time patients take before seeing a specialist. On average, a person waits seven years to having their hearing tested by a professional. During this period, their issue has often worsened.
This means when I finally see a patient, we often have a much larger challenge on our hands. If they’d visited us when experiencing their first signs of hearing loss, the solution would have been much simpler.
If you’re over the age of 55 or have experienced any signs of a hearing loss, my advice is to schedule a hearing assessment as soon as possible, even if it’s just as a precaution.
It’s quick, non-invasive, and you receive the results right away.
